Day Skipper Practical
6 nights aboard 5 days sailing
Do your day skipper in tidal waters, sunshine and see the sights!

 What you will achieve.

On your Day Skipper practical course you will achieve skills  covering yacht handling under power and sail, how to make a tidal passage, some collision regulations, sail setting, reefing and much more. On completion you should be able to skipper a small yacht by day in familiar waters and reasonable conditions.

Pre course requirements.

For the day skipper practical course you need to have completed 100 sea miles, have practical skills to competent crew level and theory knowledge is required to day skipper level.

If you have little or no theory knowledge then consider our on line home learning package (see theory courses), alternatively we offer a two week combination theory and practical course on board (learn while you sail) or the joint one week residential theory course followed by the practical course.

Certification.

RYA Day Skipper Practical completion certificate.

The combination theory and practical course on board is for the practical certificate only and no previous sea miles are necessary.

Sailing area.

During the day skipper practical course we usually visit Morocco and Spain as well as our home port of Gibraltar.
Mediterranean Climate and still tidal Gibraltar is ideal for sail cruising.

Available with our Master Class option maximum 3 to a yacht and a guaranteed private cabin.

Day Skipper.
For those who wish to take the reins.

If you are thinking of taking people out sailing this is the minimum qualification you should have.

Hi Clare,
In reply to your e mail request for feedback.

The yachts I found to be clean and in excellent condition well victualled and comfortable.
Tony our skipper was a first class instructor and the combination of different courses aboard at the same time gave an interesting slant to the two weeks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks aboard and will find it hard to forget the mooring exercises carried out in horizontal rain and gusting winds in Morocco
I have not only gained the practical sailing skills I needed but had a really good holiday !!!!!

Best Regards
Dave Phillips.
